Welcome to the moderated Western Cave Conservancy
Email Discussion List, only available to WCC members.

If you have any questions regarding this mailing list or wish to unsubscribe, please
contact the list owner at: list-admin@westerncaves.org

You may post to the list by sending messages to: list@westerncaves.org

The purpose of the list is for members to share and discuss news related to
cave conservation efforts in the West, and for WCC staff to send out
newsletters, volunteer opportunities, and other announcements. This is a
moderated list, and posts will be screened for suitability prior to
distribution to the list. See the Acceptable Use policy below for details.
Please allow time for the moderator to review messages before they are
posted to the list (it might occasionally take a few days, though generally
much less.)

Thanks, and we hope you enjoy using the discussion list.

Acceptable Use Policy

WCC's discussion list ( list@westerncaves.org ) is designed to host
discussions related to the Conservancy's mission of securing permanent
protection for threatened caves in the West. Any discussions posted to this
list must be current and relevant.

The following guidelines have been established to allow for effective
exchange of information in a responsible way by all WCC members. These
guidelines will be strictly enforced by the list moderator in order to keep
this list an effective open forum. Messages which do not meet these
guidelines will be rejected, though the sender may appeal the rejection
(see Appeals below.) Repeated violations can lead to permanent removal from
the list.

Guidelines:

1. All correspondence must relate specifically to WCC and/or cave
conservation issues in the West.

2. Messages which could harm the Conservancy or hinder achievement of its
goals will be rejected.

3. Any confrontational comments showing a lack of respect will not be
tolerated. Unacceptable comments include foul or inflammatory language,
innuendoe, rumors, personal attacks, and provocation.

4. Overuse of the privilege, flooding of email messages, forwarding of bulk
email, or any other form of spamming are unacceptable and grounds for
removal from the list.

5. Marketing of products or services is not allowed.

6. Deliberate acts associated with denying, interfering with or disrupting
service of anyones e-mail service or that of any other agency are unacceptable.

7. Any unlawful activity is forbidden.

Messages which violate any of the above guidelines will be rejected, and
the sender contacted and asked to adhere to the policy; an appeal is
allowed. If a user persists in violating the policy, they will be taken off
the list. Thank you for your participation and cooperation.

This policy may be updated from time to time without prior notice. Each
updated version will be distributed to the list, and messages subsequent to
the version change will be subject to the updated policy.

------ Appeals Procedure ------

When a message is rejected by the moderators due to violation of the rules
above, the following occur:

1. Moderator notifies the user of the unacceptable message, and lists the
rule(s) violated. A copy of this notification and the offending message are
also sent to the WCC Board of Directors.

2. If the sender disagrees, they are allowed to appeal the rejection. The
appeal petition should be sent to the moderator, who will forward it to the
Board of Directors.

3. The Board will then render a decision regarding the suitability of the
message. The decision shall be final. Notification will be sent to the
moderator and the user, and the Board may optionally give a detailed
explanation. If the Board judges it acceptable, the message will be posted
to the list.

4. Repeated appeals by the same user may be grounds for permanent removal
from the list.
